In the last edition of Vibration Magazine, we set up three plant attunement photo galleries, provided suggestions about how to use them, and then invited readers to share their experiences with us. See the plant attunement galleries start here.
Below are the very creative responses about the daffodil gallery that we received from several of our readers. Can you find the common threads between different people's experiences of the same photos? Also in this issue, see the Bamboo and Mushroom reader responses. (If you'd like to try the gallery yourself, we recommend that you do NOT read the below information before you have your own experience so as to not prejudice your outcome.)
Daffodils
Reader Anne J Ryan was quickly inspired looking at the daffodils to write the following:
Daffodils, Full-Hearted and Wild
Waiting to open, to travel
O slim young reeds
captive and wild
all jostling trumpets
heralding spring.
O daffodil who melts into blue
pouring energy into the sky
secret source
under an exultant heaven
singing and singing
blowing your own horn
but ours too.
Jonquil of nectars
and sweet dew
flower of convolution
and cranny
flower of the extra thought
O wild, wild heart
chanting golden love
over mountains and hills
tables and supermarkets
O bell of the heart
ringing and ringing
O narcissus
looking deep
into the pool of all the world
Help us to quickly
wake up
to truly see
the beauty of all of it.
Maria Bellay from California sent: Fluted, lacy, cloth-like folds circle the cup-like flowers before full bloom. Much sunny, upbeat yellow -- very life-affirming. When fully bloomed, there is a six-point star with a cup in the middle. The overall feeling is contentment, happiness, almost like the cup helps hold a quiet joy. The most outstanding feature and feeling to me comes from their resemblance to asparagus when they are in tight bud. They look tall, even though they are probably less than a foot, but they grow into these starbursts. It is as though, like us, we start out in tight bud and ultimately (if fed and watered properly) we burst into stars. Perhaps the cup in the center helps hold information or enables us to hear the things we need to know to go from promise to promising. Lastly, they dot the countryside, so many smallish flowers creating a golden carpet wherever they grow wild. This reminds me how happiness is contagious. When we accentuate a sunny disposition, concentration on our own growth, and allow ourselves just "to be," we create a ground cover of bliss in our wake.
Ginger Allison wrote:
I know why the term "daffy" and "daffodils" sound so similar -- the reaction I had from viewing the daffodils was one of clowning delight! What silly, silly, daff-a-down-dillies they are. They mostly were laughing at me, but in a way that was infectious and completely acceptable -- considering how unpleasant it usually is to be laughed it. They were laughing because I am absurd and delightful. Because all humans are absurd and delightful. Because life is absurd... and also delightful. Or delightful because of its absurdity; these two qualities seem to be intimately and infinitely connected to one each other according to our daffodil friends. Just as we are absurdly delightful to the delightfully absurd daffs.
When I reflect upon the way that the Greek story of Narcissus shows us our overblown egos, of course the absurdity aspect becomes more and more clear. And since to laugh at oneself with delight is a powerful way to gain perspective, clarity and wisdom, maybe these daff-a-down-dillies aren't so silly after all.
