In the last edition of Vibration Magazine, we set up three plant attunement photo galleries, provided suggestions about how to use them, and then invited readers to share their experiences with us. See the plant attunement galleries start here.
Below are the very creative responses about the mushroom gallery that we received from several of our readers. Can you find the common threads between different people's experiences of the same photos? Also in this issue, see the Bamboo and Daffodil reader responses. (If you'd like to try the gallery yourself, we recommend that you do NOT read the below information before you have your own experience so as to not prejudice your outcome.)
Mushrooms
Marguerite Murray wrote: The mushroom gallery got the most response from me. I really got several feelings from this, one being how connected everything is, how plants and trees,
insects, animals, bacteria, fungus live with each other, each living in a smaller earth than our whole big one. The mushrooms seem to come in more than singles, this having that family support. They feel that they are about support and strength. The ones in the log seem to have something to do something with shyness.
The mushrooms pop up like flowers when they get watered and protected from
the extremes. They bloom before they drop their "seed" spores, and this
seems so connected to the flower world.
These photos made me want to go out into the forest, and connect more in that
physical realm. As a child, our family went to the forest and while our
parents were gathering these huge white mushrooms, we children played for
hours in our secret "cavern" in the brush that felt magical and freeing. I
collected various mushroom species that I put in a box to share and look at
because I found them so interesting, colorful and fun. We weren't worried
about poison because we were careful and focused on the wonderful creative
beauty instead.
I have always been into fairies and felt I have visited many fairy areas
growing up, but didn't get to see any until I was in my 40s. Anyway, this
brought me back to my fairy kingdoms growing up. I loved seeing these.
Thank you.
Maria Bellay said: Mushrooms: The cap of mushrooms is its most distinctive characteristic, and I immediately think of how Disney portrayed mushrooms dancing -- I believe it was in Fantasia. It is hard to view a mushroom without that whimsical image in mind. It must have made quite a childhood impression!
The cap seems protective, probably of head and mind. It strikes me how mushrooms range from quite ugly -- literally warts and all -- to cute. Their caps appear to be rain hats or umbrellas in many cases. Perhaps they protect us somehow from emotional overload -- all that element of water. I sense their earthiness and symbiotic relationship with trees, which are so grounded. I can't help but feel there is some mixture of the earth and water element here, especially knowing that the more watery/emotional we are, the more grounding we need. If we need help in that regard, a strong, steady, long-lived tree is a great symbol for what we need to "latch onto." Fungi also grow in groups, and perhaps they have something to do with supporting one another, even as we seek support. We won't fall over if we lean on each other. One of the 'shrooms, especially, reminded me in shape of a paragraph symbol. Paragraphs also denote groups of words. The ultimate feeling I have is being supported when things are not easy. In the dark, dank night of the soul, perhaps our friends and "keeping our heads" via the protective mushroom cap allow us to grow into delicacies, as nowadays, people enjoy so many kinds of gourmet mushrooms.
Sometimes Vibration contributor Ginger Allison wrote: The mushrooms were VERY weird -- and yet again, I was surprised at how different from the rest. In fact, I'm surprised how easily I could "get" the energy of the plants (or 'shrooms) from viewing and meditating on just a few photos.
Anyway, I got a feeling of "alien" and "strange" -- otherworldly. I felt they were watching me -- which is not a feeling I've ever had from a mushroom before! Watching and observing, but not interacting, except at opportune, or important times. Very odd.
