10th Anniversary Edition: Surviving Stormy Seas
By Deborah Bier, PhD, Publisher and Co-Editor of Vibration Magazine
Sometimes my co-editor, Donna Cunningham, and I wonder: After so long publishing this ezine, is there anything left for us to say? Haven't we done it all? How will we ever match some of our most glorious editions? Shouldn't we just quit while we're ahead, before Vibration becomes superfluous?
And then something happens in world events -- like this current economic downturn coupled with a major US presidential election, climate change, natural disasters of unfathomable magnitude -- and we realize that not only can Vibration Magazine still be of service, but that vibrational and flower essences themselves are (of course!) ever vitally necessary.
Now I'm feeling a bit anxious having written the above -- are you, too, now that you've read it? Now, let's both close our eyes, take a few deep, easy, slow breaths and center ourselves in this very moment (as opposed to the unknown and unknowable future). There -- I'm feeling much better now! As you open your eyes and find yourself in the "here and now" along with me, do you
find that being present at this very moment is anxiety-provoking? I'm going to guess not.
I know that sitting here writing this editorial, I can choose to remain in the power of my calm and balanced center... that my future worry is just that: worry about an unknown future. As long as I stay in the "now," I realize that I live a rich and blessed life. So do so many of you who are reading this. And that together, we will find a way to weather whatever storms may be coming our way.
Vibration can be a Lifeboat in Stormy Seas
I believe these are some of the most important services Vibration Magazine can provide at this time: a sense of perspective, a reminder to return to the "here and now", and a counting of our many blessings. This is relevant now, and it will always be relevant -- regardless of what tomorrow ends up looking like.
This edition offers many essence tools to help with this process. Articles on essences for staying stress, trauma, hopelessness, and the many upheavals so many of us are experiencing. Also, there are plenty of wise words and essence choices for staying centered, healing the wounded heart, finding peace, gratitude and comfort -- even joy -- despite the rocking of any personal or planetary boats.
Did you notice the vividness of this edition's artwork? The background art is so richly patterned that we used only black and white illustrations so as to not overwhelm you! All of this beautiful art is of antique or ancient origin from the historic great cultures from around the world. It reminds me that we are blessed by the past, and that we will be blessed again in the future... even if it doesn't seem likely from this all-too-narrow vantage point.
This is Vibration's 10th Anniversary Edition
I want to count the vast blessing of Vibration Magazine reaching its 10th birthday with this edition! I am so overwhelmingly grateful to our wonderful authors and readers. Who would have thought Vibration would be going so strong after a decade?
As we start our second decade of publication, we have lots of plans for Vibration. I hope you will be a part of them. Do please think of writing an article for us -- our next few theme issues are simmering away on the stove, waiting for the ingredients you'll bring to the party. (See our call for papers in this issue here.)
