When I heard that this issue of Vibration was about change, I knew I had to write something for it, because I am just about the Crown Princess of Change! Ever since I got sober going on a year ago, my life has been one dizzying change after another. I can't claim it was all that stable when I was drinking either, but at least these new circumstances, challenging as they may be, are all moving in an upward direction. And the essences -- along with my recovery program -- have played a big part in keeping me on a positive track. To bring you up to date, since my last article in Vibration,
nearly everything in my daily life is different. You may recall I was
in the halfway house and working out every day in Pete's Gym. Well,
my housemate Scarface got thrown out for a couple of minor infractions -- nobody
pressed any charges -- so I felt sorry for him, and we moved into a
furnished room together. We're still going to meetings, just not every day.
And without all that tedious cooking and cleaning they insisted we do at
the halfway house, I have time to write more of the essence
poetry Vibration's readers have been pestering me for. It was
gratifying that my first poems
were such a hit.
As for Pete's Gym, we hit a bit of a snag there, too. See, Pete was going to be the backer for my line of Gym Elixirs, which so many of you wrote to order after I gave the definitions last time. (The Sports Bra and Personal Trainer elixirs were especially popular.) Unfortunately, it turned out that Pete had a whole different concept of what repayment on his investment would entail. When he tried collecting from me in advance, Scarface objected pretty strenuously, and we both wound up getting thrown out of there too. Sorry to say, you'll have to wait longer for the Gym Elixir kit, but never fear, I haven't given up on it. And, if it doesn't happen, I promise to eventually refund every penny of your money.
One positive thing that came out of Pete's is my A.A. sponsor, Gert,
who was one of the regulars there. She's been around the program for
I don't know about you, but what with all these changes, I've had to reply a lot on my favorite remedies for stress. They keep me sane and sober through it all. And now that I have more time to myself, I've written some poetry about these great stress busters. When I get enough poems, I'm thinking of putting out an e-book. Here are a few samples.
Well, folks, I hope your lives have been as interesting and full of surprises as mine, and I hope you've found the remedies as helpful in coping with change as I have. I'll write again when I get the chance. Many thanks to all of you and especially to the editors of Vibration for all the encouragement. It's meant a lot to me in this past year. |
