The planet of change is Uranus. Discovered in 1781, it is a very late
addition to human consciousness. The year of its discovery coincided
with the industrial revolution, and it is noted for its connections with
electricity and technology. This is evident in the changes wrought by
the staggering growth of the internet during the time it has been in its
home sign, Aquarius. The change it represents, however, is high-powered, and often
destabilises our lives and overwhelms us.
This year, Uranus moves from Aquarius to Pisces, traditionally a difficult
placement, but this time enhanced by a special relationship with
Neptune. The shocking energy of Uranus will be either refracted and
distorted or redeemed by the watery Neptune. This should bring a
generally positive influence, but the keyword will be weird. It is
likely we will see the emergence of some strange new religions and some
equally bizarre science.
To achieve anything, we need to come into balance with these changes, to
be able to cope in order to act. One powerful way to achieve that balance
is to tap into the energy of life itself through the use of flower essences.
I am familiar with Australian flower essences and will use them as examples,
but every essence kit will offer its own balances if you look for how they
resonate with Uranus and the other planets.
When overwhelmed by the raw shock of Uranus, suitable remedies would
be Paw Paw, to assimilate new ideas, and Bauhinia, to flow with the changes gracefully.
If the Uranus experience has been traumatic, Dog Rose of the Wild Forces will give clarity
and calm. Fringed Violet may be indicated to restore etheric wholeness, or Red Suva
Frangipani to understand grief.
Uranian values are idealistic and progressive. How they
are achieved depends on circumstances. With a difficult Uranus
transit, these values can be expressed in rebellious and perverse behaviour, especially
(but by no means exclusively) in teenage years. At such times, it would appear that Red Helmet Orchid,
representing a symbolic bonding with the father, might well be indicated.
Mountain Devil would transform anger to forgiveness.
Uranus and Saturn will form aspects to one another during parts of this year, and Uranus/Saturn encounters
can bring a great deal of tension and worry. The challenge is somehow to manage
the conflict between our needs as individuals and the structures which contain
us in our lives. Yet it often manifests in disputes and rebellion, even as
accidents requiring surgery. To achieve balance externally we need to find
balance inside ourselves. Crowea gives a calm, vital balance which allows
us to make reasoned and appropriate decisions. Five Corners can help
us clear old self-sabotage and understand our real purpose. Sturt Desert Rose
will lend integrity and courage, and clear guilt.
Uranus' urge is to break free, often at all costs. If we get too attached
to solid reality to see the need for change, we will manifest the energy in
external events, sudden and destabilising.
In our mundane, day-to-day world,
this can come as a nasty shock.
In greater reality, though, a Uranus event is a
call to change, to eventual
transformation. Like all the outer planets, Uranus has a deeper purpose.
As the gatekeeper of the mysteries, he is calling us to attend to the world
beyond the purely material. This world is intangible and invisible to many of
us, so we experience the energy only as a disruption to our lives. If we tune
in, we have the opportunity to make contact with our higher destiny.
Here lies the real value of the flower essences, which operate at this level anyway.
They attune our vibrations to our true purpose. As Uranus calls and we open the
appropriate vibrational channels, we can gain great insight into the meaning and
direction of our lives. This is not to say that we will necessarily have a mystical
experience, but the turbulent new perspectives offered by Uranus can be received with
acceptance and given great clarity when balanced with essences.
On a collective level,
essences are obviously of little help. However, they can help us as individuals to deal with
the bad news that is the stock in trade in the world at present. Yet perhaps that has
its own effects, since each of us individually makes up the collective.
Each time we express our personal joy and fulfilment we make infinitesimal
but significant changes to the collective consciousness. The All is an expression
of each of us, just as each of us is a facet of the All.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Steve Jolley has a long association with esoteric studies, and has been publishing
astrological diaries for eight years. Five years ago he was introduced to Australian Bush
Flower Essences and had his life transformed. He found strong parallels in the
energies of astrological transits and flower essences, so he spent a year developing
a set of essences to match all challenging transits lasting more than a day or two.
He is currently working to publish these on his website
at www.groundedheavens.com.
