Two years ago, the Fairy-Human Relations Congress was held in an Oak Grove at Riversong Sanctuary just outside of Hood River, Oregon. Oak trees are one of the most sacred plants of the Celtic tradition, and many of the people who attended this gathering were of Celtic ancestry. Garry Oak is a different species than the oaks of the sacred groves in Celtic lands, yet it carries much of the same spiritual essence. The spirit of oak tree settled into my awareness as we arrived.

Garry oak trees, aka Oregon white oaks, are native from the Southern California Coastal Ranges through Oregon and Washington to the Cascade Mountain range and gulf islands of Southwestern British Columbia. They grow at low elevations on dry rocky slopes, bluffs or sometimes in deep, rich, well-drained soils, and can reach 75 feet tall. The bark is light grey with deep furrows and ridges. Garry oak trees flower in spring as the leaves appear. The leaves are deeply lobed dark green above, and greenish-yellow with red to yellow hairs below. The Salish peoples of the Puget Sound region in Washington State ate the acorns. The wood was used to make combs and digging sticks as well as for fuel.

At the Congress I taught a class about flower essences, and we made the Garry Oak Tree Essence (Quercus garryana). We learned how to reawaken that rich tradition of communing with nature beings and ancestor spirits. We experienced the playfulness and depth of being in contact with those of the unseen realms. For several days we lived, ate, made ritual, played and meditated in a state of alternate reality. How fitting it is that the Garry Oak Tree Essence asked to be made at that gathering!

While the essence was being made, gemstones of amber, red jasper, and drusy quartz were placed among the plants with the storage (mother) bottles. Amber aligns the subtle bodies with the physical bodies, transmutes negative energy into positive energy, and emits a sunny and soothing energy that calms and enlivens the disposition. Red Jasper balances the chakras, assists with journeying to higher frequency dimensions and keeps you grounded to the stabilizing energies of Earth. Drusy quartz crystals help to energize and stabilize your subtle bodies. The actions of the gemstones inform the way this flower essence seats into the physical body.

Garry Oak--Attuning to Ancient Wisdom

On the flower essence level, Garry Oak Tree Essence assists you in being able to comfortably move into and out of alternate realities and dimensions. This could include ritual, extended spiritual practice, meditation retreat, shamanic journeying, or channeling information from spirits and guides of other dimensions. It holds the ancient knowledge of our ancestors about meeting and communing with nature beings and spirit guides. It is an ally during our process of remembering that our experiences of being multidimensional people are as natural as breathing.

Use Garry Oak Tree Essence when you are having difficulty reintegrating into ordinary reality after going into an alternate reality. Symptoms could include nervous system hypersensitivity, headaches, being spaced out and unable to think clearly about ordinary daily things, disassociating and not wanting to be a part of daily life, or fear about what other people might think about your alternate reality experiences.

As Garry Oak Tree says of itself: I AM the experience of being at home in all dimensions including Earth. The expanded Definition as spoken by the plant is, "Ancient wisdom for knowing how to journey through alternate dimensions in a healthy and coherent way; expanding into and contracting out of etheric sight and journeying, then returning to ordinary reality with ease."

You may wonder how Tree Frog Farm's Garry Oak essence differs from the Oak in the Bach kit. By the way the Bach essences are described and how I've seen them used, they seem to focus on psychological, emotional, and behavior issues. Tree Frog Farm essencees address issues from the perspective of multidimensional people living on the Earth plane. The underlying assumption is that all of us are personally evolving (along with the planet, galaxy and universe) while living our daily lives. So our essences address daily life issues, the evolutionary process, and how they intertwine. I would suspect that people who fit the profile for the Bach Oak Tree essence are people who are deeply spiritual and giving, and express that in practical ways.
