By Deborah Bier, PhD, Publisher and Co-Editor of Vibration Magazine. This is Part 1 of a 3-Part Series in this May, 2007 issue. However, this limits us to plants in our physical proximity. But there are ways to circumvent this limitation -- because really, these limitations exist only on the physical plane. In the world of spirit, physical distance exists only as an illusion. This being the age of the internet, we are presenting readers here with an opportunity to attune to a plant through the wonderful, magical medium of your computer screen. This gallery of photos of one plant species is meant for your attunment pleasure. It is presented as a slide show (hopefully, one that your browser will display perfectly). Follow the instructions provided below -- or follow your heart to some other approach. Each image will advance to the next in 8 seconds, starting from the beginning again once the last has been shown. View them as many times as you wish. Besides the slideshow below, we have two others in this edition, one here and another here. Suggested Use: Gaze gently into the center of each of these images, taking in the entire photo without staring intently. Breathe slowly, deeply and rhythmically. Do this for 5-20 minutes. See what impressions you get. How do you feel physically and emotionally? What thoughts do you find yourself thinking? What mental associations do you bring to the experience -- what does this remind you of? What do you find yourself noticing about yourself or the world beyond during this meditation? Afterwards, think about the main themes of your experience, doing some writing or note-taking if you wish to boil down your experience. When you are done and you have some idea of what the essence is about, read about the remedy (each mandala has a short description at the bottom plus links to any articles in Vibration which focus on this remedy). Can you find ways of relating your experience to the "textbook" description? Keeping in mind the ways they might differ, do you find new insight about yourself? Afterward, it can be helpful to record on paper or tell a trusted person what you experienced so you may understand it better. Or simply accept what happened at face value, enjoying and benefiting from the experience without analysis. This slide show is of plants known collectively as "bamboo." (We would provide a Genus species name for you, but bamboo is very pesky and isn't easily classified this way.) You may already know something about bamboo, but for this exercise, please put your intellectual knowledge over to the side in order to have a fuller attunement experience. Afterward, it would be very instructive if you did pair this experience with your knowledge of this plant and its uses. We'd like to hear about your experiences using this gallery. Please email us.
