Trouble with Tomatoes
©2006 by Deborah Bier, Ph.D.

Robby had a notable history of severe bowel problems when he first came to me as a pre-schooler. Using energy work, the majority of this difficulty quickly healed. When he was in middle school, his parents divorced and eventually came to live in different states. He came to see me when he developed what seemed like a tomato allergy as a high school student. This allergy first manifested when he ate tomatoes while visiting his father, taking the form of a recurrence of the bowel problems from earlier life, though to a lesser degree. It continued to appear every time he ate tomatoes, regardless of which parent he was staying with.

canned tomatoes Remaining cheerful and upbeat, Robby refused to acknowledge -- much less discuss -- being upset in any way with his parental situation. But on an intuition, I decided to try him on Whole Energy Essences' Tomato Essence, made from the flower (not the fruit) of the tomato plant. Knowing the essence contains only the energy of the tomato plant and therefore would not cause a reaction if an allergy to tomatoes did exist, I felt it was worth a try to explore whether the mechanism of "the hair of the dog that bit you" would operate here. I suggested he use one entire bottle now until it was finished, and then to use a second bottle throughout his next visit with his father.

Following our session, the bowel problems disappeared quickly and did not return until Robby visited his father and ate a meal containing tomatoes. At our next session, I gave him another bottle of Tomato, suggesting he take it again throughout his visit with his father.

The next time we met, he reported there was additional improvement in the symptoms. They were less severe and long-lasting, and did not continue past his visit with his father. I gave him another bottle of Tomato, and suggested that he use it for a week before his next planned visit, and to continue it during and after the visit for another week.

courage! During their next visit, Robby had NO bowel symptoms whatsoever, despite eating spaghetti and red sauce with dad. We have continued the routine of using the Tomato Essence whenever he expected to visit dad -- before, during, and after -- and have not seen a recurrence of the problem. On our last visit, he reported high energy and good health, despite heavy, seasonal school stresses. He was even willing to talk with unaccustomed frankness about his feelings toward his father and their visits. Finally, he was getting comfortable with revealing the bitterness and hurt I had suspected he felt.

Is the Tomato Essence's connection with courage an underlying connection here (see an article on this here)? I suspect so, because after three bottles of the essence, both his physical symptoms and Robby's reluctance to speak about his hurtful relationship with his father were reduced, if not eliminated.

As a result of this, do I now believe that every case of sensitivity to tomatoes a "problem" with courage? No -- humans are far too creative in both their problems, and the solutions to their problems. But what have you got to lose by giving a bottle of Tomato Essence a try? Certainly there's something you could be more courageous about.
