When we come to terms with the emotional attachments that have held us in bondage, we are preparing ourselves for a new future. Any control issues, victim, or abuse issues, deaths, or severe traumas in our lives that have prevented us from releasing stagnant emotions will come to the forefront of our conscious awakening when we are ready to make such changes. By confronting our fear, anger, sadness, guilt, grief, and shame, and possibly by re-experiencing events or images to help us release them, we can then move forward. The Second Chakra holds the key to our personal investment in ourselves, to our creativity, and the birth of new
emotional patterns and ideas, and to our ability to take care of ourselves and nurture ourselves and others.
The Second Chakra is also the center of sexuality and sensation. The emotional state of this chakra is affected by our attitudes toward sex and our own sexuality. As we come into a new identity, our new sense of freedom includes the freedom and balance of our own sexuality. We learn new steps in the dance of life that stir our passion and excitement for living. We have accepted and embraced life's setbacks, and we are evolving a new style of living that supports who we are and what we have established in the foundation of our being. Pomegrante's History, Symbolism, and Essence Uses
In creating my Chakra Kit, the essence I chose for the Second Chakra was Pomegranate. This fruit is native to Asia, especially Iran and Afghanistan, and grows wild on the shores of Mideastern and Mediterranean countries. It is an ancient symbol of fertility due to its striking red color and the arrangement of its seeds. It was suspected to be the "forbidden fruit" eaten by Eve in the Garden of Eden. In Greek mythology, Persephone was said to have eaten six pomegranate seeds after she fell into Hades, the underworld. The seeds symbolize her union with Pluto, god of the underworld, a birthing period, and her return to herself. The six months she spent in the underworld each year helped her discover her hidden wisdom, beauty, and power, and allowed her to confront her fears in the darkest moments of her life. In the spring, Persephone was free and emerged with the newly found gifts she had given herself.
Pomegranate essence has many powerfully transformative uses. It activates the awakening and experience of the kundalini life-force. It stirs passion, sexuality, and creativity, and enhances the expression of femininity, which connects us to the great Earth Mother; this is helpful for both men and women. Furthermore, it teaches us to protect, respect, and honor, our vulnerability; to discover our inner wisdom, beauty, and power in the seemingly darkest moments of our lives; and to make use of these gifts externally by setting healthy boundaries. We learn to express our emotions and creativity in safe ways and feel free in who we are.
For women, Pomegranate especially helps us understand how our emotional and mental states affect who we are and how we feel in our physical, sexual, and feminine bodies. It is helpful to women of all ages and all cycles -- adolescence, premenstrual, menstrual, or menopausal. It may also promote the intuitive, psychological, and feminine qualities within males. By awakening the "inner feminine," a male can nurture his ability to discover and embody these feminine qualities. Pomegranate flower essence can also be beneficial for men in the arousal of their passionate and sexual natures. Pomegranate attracts an abundance of positive, fruitful, inner and outer resources; guides us in personal balance within ourselves, at home, with our family, in our job, and our role within the larger community. It helps us express a positive nature of joy, optimism, and freedom. Note: In an earlier article in Vibration, Dirk Albrodt discussed Pomegranate as an essence for the feminine archetype.
