Positive Aspect: To overcome grief at a deep soul-based level.
Affirmation: My soul is supported and nurtured by love from all creation.
I reflect only love in all areas of my being and existence.
Long Dark Night of the Soul is an essence to reverse isolation, and restore connection with our environment and those things in life which bring both love and sustenance. It was created as a composite essence and was processed over the period of the full moon at the Spring Equinox. It contains Eutaxia densifolia; Dampiera angulata; Westringia rigida; Goodenia dyerii; and Calytrix variabilis.
This essence has proven to be very helpful in carrying people though times of dealing with deep soul-based grief and heartfelt sadness. It also assists with nightmares and associated stresses, and has been equally successful with both parent and child when fears are unwittingly transmitted from one to the other. This essence will assist you to overcome those deep, distressing emotions which we work so hard to suppress, but which inevitably emerge when we are least able to cope. This essence has been found to be useful for children with nightmares or bed-wetting, as well as for adults dealing with deep-seated grief.
I have also had people who are dealing with karmic connections use this with good effect, to overcome grief at a deep spiritual level. It should be noted that in congruence with the principles of homeopathy and of the often-mentioned healing crisis, these emotions may deepen before being relieved. If someone is feeling very low, I often recommend that they not be alone for the first 24 hours of taking this essence, as it's better to visit friends.
The Story of this Essence
In June 2002, an older man in the community I live in committed suicide. There was no apparent reason for this action, no financial, medical or business worries in the life of this well-respected husband, brother, father, grandfather. The day he took this action was his daughter's thirtieth birthday. As we tend to, this matter was discussed at work, and I became aware of a pattern of similar acts over a number of years within the district. Talking to other friends I also became aware of similar patterns in other rural areas.
I put a mental note up to the Universe to make me aware of anything that I might be able to do to make a difference to this overlooked group in our community before they became additional statistics. Approximately three months later I was at the Australian Kinesiology Association conference in Adelaide, when I was made aware that there was a flower essence to be made. A few days later, on the plane flying out of Adelaide, I was given an image of the particular flower in my vicinity which would make a difference. It was Eutaxia densiflora.
I had arranged for a friend to come to visit overnight to work with me to produce the essence which would work with suicidal thoughts. I had been shown an image of the flower we needed, but had not yet located it.
I went to York to meet my friend and a young Chinese woman studying English in Perth and was staying with her. We were also accompanied by her very small Jack Russell terrier. We played ladies in that lovely town for longer than we should have, and were feeling a little pushed for time when we arrived back at my house. We then transferred to my vehicle and left to search for the plant.
As often happens, it was not intended that this would be a composite essence, but we found that I had left the bulk of the water at home and only had enough water to produce one essence with us when we found the flowers. So the concept of composites evolved, and given that this essence is about community and environment, it seems to have been very appropriate. In wandering around the area and being drawn to various plants which would make up the essence, we also found other aspects which need to be supportive to, but were not included in the actual essence.
We placed the bowl with the water in a tall tree stump which had been eaten out by white ants, leaving a soft dirt-like substance in the centre of the wood. This was a little like a baptismal font. As well as the flowers in the bowl, we placed Kennedia nigricans behind the bowl, and a piece of wool and a used shotgun cartridge under the bowl.
As we meditated with this essence, we were very aware of the conflicting influences of grief and grieving, and the strength and support from community and environment around us. These influences seemed to be working on deep soul-based sadness and grief. We didn't stay with the essence all night as it processed, but planned to come back very early the next morning, well before dawn.
I didn't ever find out how much our young international visitor was able to understand of what we were doing on that night; however, I am sure that her very trusting energy was very much a part of the whole process, and added to the strength of the essence as a whole.
